I, for one, am more excited about this holiday season than any other I can think of at the moment because it means that we are *this* close saying goodbye to 2020.
Of course, this holiday will be quieter, smaller, and likely pass by with little fanfare compared to other holidays in years gone by, but I’m not entirely sure I mind. With this pandemic has come a forced pause that resulted in a reevaluation of priorities in a way that no other occurrence in my life has. I thought getting married, having babies, buying a house (or 2), and starting more than one career would’ve prepared me for this rearranging of what’s important. Unfortunately, I was wrong and those life occurrences were no small things, for sure, but they still didn’t stand up to a global pandemic. Go figure.
It’s Christmas Eve and as I look around at my 2 beautiful daughters while I curl up with a glass of wine in front of my fireplace, I can’t help but smile at knowing that this is really what it’s all about. At the end of the day, it’s really only about those you surround yourself with on the daily and in the comfort of your home that matters.
My hope is that your holiday is exactly what you want it to be, whatever that means to you. I hope you take it slow, laugh a lot, hug even more, and boy-oh-boy I hope Santa is good to you this year. You deserve it.
